| Sarah | Sarah began Music for the "Bear-y" Young in September 1987. She was 4 years old! She started piano lessons with Darlene Irwin in 1990 at 7 years of age. Through the years, Sarah has been involved in many musical activities. She competed each year in the Barrie Kiwanis Music Festival. She has completed many Conservatory exams, the last one being her Grade 8 piano just before she left for University. She also played trumpet in her high school band. Sarah plans to continue her musical studies. Her current goal is to complete her Grade 9 piano. "Pre-School Music gave me a great 'first impression' of music because it was such a fun and inviting environment. I can still remember going around pretending to be a bear, sitting on our little carpets, writing rests and "baby bear" notes in my notebook. Pre-school was important because it gave me an enthusiasm for music! Right now I'm at Wilfred Laurier University. I'm still taking music courses and will graduate with a minor in music. I have definitely found my music background to come in handy!! I'm also working towards my Grade 9 piano. One day I'd love to teach music and also conduct a band. Music has opened many doors in my life." Sarah (20 years old) [TOP] |
